I know lots of JWs who kept their baptism vow but broke the marriage vow. Some of that stuff like history is unbelievable. DA is a big step, but the cat is out of the bag now.

Why can't we have a kingdom hall?
by road to nowhere ini was musing on how many small churches there are.
a single congregation made of moderate income people.
often the pastor has a job on the side.

Dio....
Yes, I lament the little halls we built ourselves and maintained without fooling with LDC bull. And we thought we were on the right path.
I am one of the locked in by family people. I use every excuse I can to miss but have a pimi wife to consider

I was musing on how many small churches there are. A single congregation made of moderate income people. Often the pastor has a job on the side. They get by. Contrast the JWs having to share a hall so some have to meet on Saturday or at a miserable day wasting afternoon or evening time.
I am not thinking of the big cathedral type either.
I already know people tend to put their resources into something of benefit. So I can partly answer my own question. Just being grumpy as I must take the little lady to meeting, ours this year is arou d lunch time

Why do Americans have to pay so much for College???
by RubaDub ini know there is a huge college/university lobby here in the us that lives off of students paying, in some cases, enormous amounts of money just to attend.. putting politics aside, if that is possible, (and i am not a bernie sanders guy by any means), but how can we pay for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, high school, and then throw a huge debt to someone who wants to continue learning?
can't the us (public and state universities) afford four more years for young people to get on a career path without having to, in some cases, take out a mortgage/loan more than the cost of some homes?
then, (and nothing against immigrants, i am married to one), but then the us has to "import" students from other countries to fill the needs that we should be supplying here.

" if you think education is expensive wait til you see the cost of ignorance "
In part the u iversities are greedy and in part are scamming students
I support my taxes paying for public school, even with no students in my home. I want that dental tech, or even McD guy to have decent diction, manners, language knowledge, and to know their field.
There should be a construct more than is offered for college credit in high school, and a better vocational counciling. If you want to be a nurse you need the biology, chemistry, Latin; different than someone on a engineering path.
My state has at least 2 schools that rank in the same esteem as Hahvahd, Caltech, and the like. The students I have known ranked from genuine geniuses to snot nose twits.

LGBT, trans, etc. - Be warned!

any minority group who bring such cases because they have been "offended" by a comment or a joke about their precious "alternate" lifestyle, should take a few steps back and admit what they are really demanding - a total ban on everyone's freedom of speech, except their's!

When China sneezes ..... !!!!!!
by fulltimestudent ini'm being a smartarse with that title.
its a play on an old saying in ozland (australia) which was, "when the usa sneezes, australia gets pneumonia" which was meant to describe the economic clout of the usa on the economic life of australia.. but first, a (hopefully) quick personal story.
two weeks ago, i went with some chinese friends to a house auction in hurstville (a suburb in sydney, which is now a popular suburb for cantonese speaking chinese).

The world will get pneumonia. So many goods contain chinese parts a disruption will hurt. If you go to the hardware for a pack of screws theh ate likely chinese made. We cant make them because the machinery was sent to China.
I watched a show about the black death. It was a great economic boost to working people IF they lived; wages went up because the labor pool went down

Why Does So Much Intellectual Innovation in the US Tend to Come from the East or West Coasts ???
by RubaDub inthere are many good universities in the central part of the us but why do so many innovative things, i.e.
silicon valley, seem to happen on one side of the country or the other (california, new york, massachusetts to name a few)?
even what is considered the most high tech area in the center of the country, austin texas, is a huge liberal bastion.

The median price of homes us why there is a homeless problem. Disregarding the drug and alcohol and mental illness.
Nothing like going to a crowded beach driving through traffic. We in flyover country have our mountains, lakes, prairie and gems in unlikely places. We do not want pseudo intellectuals around anyway.
Given a time machine, put a modern man and an indigenous native in the same environment from 1850 ten see who has a better IQ.
